日前，由中南大学人权研究中心组织编辑的学术专著Human Rights and the Reality Gap在Nova Science出版社正式出版。

从总体上看，人权的定义是明确的，其含义似乎也很容易达成一致。然而，在实践中，文化背景以及住房、宗教、数据化、种族主义等主题领域出现的特定历史条件，使人权定义的障碍显而易见，需要我们参考定义、历史和社会经济等方面的内容进行界定。本书在提供了深入理解人权的合理理论视角之后，以横向方式探讨了不同的问题。此外，本书还探讨了许多将人权话题作为偏见性地缘政治冲突工具的辩论。

本书是中南大学人权研究中心近年来着力打造的“Human Rights Research Network”的重要成果之一。2020年以来，中心执行主任毛俊响教授、研究员Peter Herrmann教授探索构建跨国界、跨学科、多视角、多维度的人权学术网络，在国际人权学术领域宣介中国理念，传播中国智慧和中国方案。依托人权学术网络，中心筹划在西方学术界出版Human Rights - Looking for the Future系列丛书。
